The numbers game: India shine at 21st CWG

India's performance at the 21st Commonwealth Games goes down as the nation's third best ever in the event.

The CWG at the Gold Coast saw India better their performance from the 2014 Glasgow Games.

India won 66 medals, two more than what the contingent achieved in 2014 edition.

The most important factor was that India won 26 gold medals.

The Indian contingent won 66 medals (26 gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze) and finished third behind Australia (198) and England (136). Australia won 80 while England pocketed 45 gold medals.

India scripted history when the women's table tennis team bagged the gold medal with Manika Batra leading the way.

She became the first Indian table tennis player to bag an individual gold medal at the CWG.

Batra won four medals at Gold Coast, out of which two were gold.

She clinched a gold and a bronze in the mixed doubles segment.

India had won 15 gold medals at 2014 Glasgow Games.

At the XXI Gold Coast event, they secured 11 more than what they had achieved in Glasgow.

In shooting, wrestling and weightlifting India won a total of 17 gold medals which in turn were five more than the 2014 edition.

Although the overall tally in these segments was less, the gold hunt was impressive.

Saina Nehwal became the first Indian shuttler to win two individual gold medals in CWG.

In boxing, 35-year-old Mary Kom clinched her first CWG medal and that was a gold.

The likes of teenage shooters Manu Bhaker and Anish Bhanwala scripted individual records in their first ever CWG.

Wrestler Sushil Kumar won his third consecutive CWG gold after 2010 and 2014 respectively.

ICSE Class 10th results are expected to come out in the 4th week of May but there is still no confirmation about the date from ISCE.
