Sam Querry stuns Novak Djokovic

Defending champion Novak Djokovic crashed out of Wimbledon after a shocking defeat by Sam Querrey. Querrey won 7-6(8-6), 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(7-5)

The 28th seed American hit 31 aces in his victory and will face Nicolas Mahut in the next round.

Djokovic won the US Open and French Open earlier this year and hoped to complete a calendar grand slam this year.

The 2016 Wimbledon total prize money has been increased to 28.1 Million British Pounds. This is an increase of about 5% from last year.

This means the winners of Men's and Women's Singles event will be awarded 2 Million British Pounds each.

The tournament this year will see an addition of Men's and Women's wheelchair Singles, to the already existing wheelchair doubles.

Nadal misses Wimbledon

Rafael Nadal who withdrew from French open due to wrist injury, continued to suffer from its effects which led him to withdraw from this season's Wimbledon.

The 2016 Wimbledon season kicked off today with most of the top players to be seen in action.

Day 1 has a big line up of matches including Djokovic, Federer, Nishikori, Raonic in Men and Venus Williams, Ana Ivanovic, Muguruza, Angelique Kerber, and Halep in Women's singles.

So far Sabine Lisicki, Stosur, Kastakina, Cepelova and Carina Witthoft won their opening matches in women's singles.

Tournament so farFederer, William sisters win ; Wawrinka out

World number 3, Roger Federer entered the fourth round by beating Daniel Evans 6-4, 6-2, 6-2.

Venus Williams had a tough time winning against Russian Daria Kasatkina. Venus won 7-5, 4-6, 10-8. Her sister Serena Williams won 6-7(7-9), 6-2, 6-4 against Christina McHale.

Argentina's Juan Martin del Porto ended Stan Wawrinka's run, beating him 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(7-2), 6-3 in the second round.

Men's Singles QFs

Roger Federer and Andy Murray will play Marin Cilic and Tsonga in the quarter-finals, for a spot the Semis. The other two QFs will see Raonic play Sam Querrey and Lucas Pouille play Tomas Berdych.

With both Venus and Serena through to the semis of Women's singles, the prospect of an all-Williams final is expectedly on cards.

Serena is set to face an unseeded Elena Vesnina, who will be playing her first grand slam semis.

In Semis, Federer faces Canadian Milos Raonic.

Murray too had a tough match against Tsonga, who stretched the contest to 5 sets, only to lose in the 5th.

He meets Berdych in the Semis.

For the first time in his career, Federer crashed out from Wimbledon in semi-final against Milos Raonic.

The sixth seeded Raonic defeated Federer in the 1st semi-final of Wimbledon 2016.

The final score was 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Federer has won 7 Wimbledon titles in his career and was being considered as a favorite post Novak Djokovic's exit in the third round.
