Recently, footage of a 'Harry Potter' role-playing game surfaced on the internet.
It was rumored to be a AAA production.
For those unaware, the coveted triple-A signifies big budget games.
It has now been confirmed that the video was true and a 'Harry Potter' game is being developed.
The working titles for the game are Magic Awakened and Magic Forever.
Read all about it.
What did the video show?
Though the video was taken off YouTube by Warner Bros., following a copyright claim, it showed sweeping shots of Hogwarts.
The video also depicted set pieces, combat mechanics, a third person character creator and creatures from the Fantastic Beasts spin-off.
A voice description informed that players would join as fifth-year Hogwarts students in the 19th century and fight goblins and dark wizards.
Side with light or darkness
As with role-playing games, players will be able to create their own characters as they enter the Harry Potter universe. Their progress will bring them across familiar characters and parts of the universe. The game offers 8 character classes which are either good or evil.
The red herring and the real masterminds
Rumors had earlier pointed at Rocksteady being the developers as it has been silent about its new project and happens to be a British studio owned by Warner Bros. Interactive.
Notably, Warner Bros. Interactive is the publisher of Harry Potter games.
However, reports now suggest that Avalanche Software, based out of Utah and also owned by Warner Bros. Interactive, will be developing the game.
