India on top of medals tally at ISSF Junior WC

2016 ISSF Junior World Cup

So far, India and Russia both are at the top spot of the medals-table in the second ISSF Junior World Cup of the year.

India has till now won four gold, three silver and six bronze medals making a total of 13 medals.

Nithyanadam Gaayathri and Anmol Anmol won silver medals in junior women's 50m rifle and junior men's 10m air pistol event respectively.

Second ISSF Junior World Cup kicks off

The 2016 International Shooting Sport Federation Junior World Cup for pistol, rifle and shotgun events kicked off in Gabala.

This is the second world cup of the year, first being held in Suhl, Greman in May.

At the first junior World Cup, India had finished on the fourth place winning a total of 10 medals which included three gold, four silver and three bronze.

Indian shooters start ISSF Junior WC on a high note

Indian shooters started their campaign at the ISSF Junior World Cup for pistol, rifle and shotgun by wining seven medals on the first day.

India's first medal came in the junior men's 50-metre rifle prone event where Subhankar Pramanik edged over Czech Republic's shooter to win gold.

In the junior men's 25-metre standard pistol event, Sambhaji Patil clinched second gold for India.

Gold and silver in team events

Along with Gurmeet and Rituraj Singh, Sambhaji Patil won gold in the junior men's 25-metre standard pistol team event. Indian men also won silver medal in the 50-metre rifle prone team event.

While India and Russia are fighting for the top spot, China is on the third position with a total of six medals. Norway, with a total four medals in their bag, are on the fourth spot.
