Jayaram loses in quarter-finals of 2016 Korea Open Super Series

India's campaign at the 2016 Korea Open Super Series ended after Ajay Jayaram lost in the quarter-final match.

Jayaram lost to Lee Hyun of South Korea who shocked the world No.3 in the second round.

In a 44-minute battle, Jayaram lost in straight sets 9-21, 15-21.

It was Jayaram's second loss to Lee this year after the Canada Open face-off.

Korea Open Super Series

Korea Open is an annual badminton tournament started in 1991 and held in Seoul, South Korea. It was added in the super series format in 2007.

The 2016 edition will be the eighth super series tournament with a total prize money of $600,000.

Chen Long of China was the winner of the men's singles event in 2015, while Sung Ji-hyun won the women's singles.

Six Indian participants at Korean Open

Six Indian shuttlers will participate in the 2016 Korea Open Super Series, five in men's singles and one in women's singles event. There is no Indian participation in any of the doubles events.

Kashyap, H S Prannoy go down in first round

India's Parupalli Kashyap lost to China's Tian Houwei in the first round of the 2016 Korea Open Super Series.

Kashyap won the first set 22-20, but could not hold on to the next two, losing 10-21 and 13-21.

H S Prannoy went down fighting against Wang Tzu Wei of Taiwan. In the 57-minutes match, Prannoy lost 21-23, 21-17, 21-15.

Kidambi Srikanth bows out in first round

Eight seeded Kidambi Srikanth crashed out in the first round after losing to Wong Wing Ki of Hong Kong. The Indian shuttler went down 21-10, 24-22, 21-17.

Jayaram in quarter-finals, Praneeth loses in second round

India's Ajay Jayaram was the lone survivor at the 2016 Korea Open Super Series after he reached the quarter-finals of the tournament.

World number 27 Jayaram defeated China's Huang Yuxiang in straight sets 21-15, 21-18.

However, B Sai Praneeth suffered a loss in second round from sixth seed Korean Son Wan Ho. Praneeth lost 9-21, 15-21 inthe 34-minutes match.

Tanvi Lad loses in the first round

India's only representative in the women's singles event, Tanvi Lad lost to Anna Thea Madsen of Copenhagen after putting up a good fight. Tanvi lost 21-18, 13-21, 21-18.
