Award details

History of Golden Joystick Awards

Also known as the People's Gaming Awards, 2018 marked the 36th anniversary of the Golden Joystick Awards, making it the second oldest ceremony after Arcade Awards.

Earlier, voting was carried out by British public, but it has now been made online and open for everyone.

It was initially limited to computer games, later expanding to console games as their popularity increased in the UK.

Sign of the times at the award ceremony

It is a good thing that the Golden Joystick Awards expanded to include console games, as the 2018 ceremony saw 'God of War' by Sony Santa Monica, only playable on PS4, picking up a large number of awards.
