Kohli, Pujara's centuries help India score 317

Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara scored centuries to put England on back foot on day one of the second test at Visakhapatnam.

Kohli and Pujara put on a 226 run partnership after India lost early wickets. Pujara scored 119 runs before he was sent back to pavilion while Kohli remained unbeaten at 151. India was at 317/4 as the day ended.

India-England second test match to begin from 17 November

India met England at Visakhapatnam in the second test match of the five match series today. The first match at Rajkot had ended in a draw.

India's test captain is playing his 50th test match as he sets foot on the field in the second test match between Indian and England.

Kohli made his debut in 2011 against West Indies but could only score 74 runs in three matches.

In 49 tests, he has scored 3643 runs at an average of 46.11 with 13 hundreds.

50th test for Root too

English batsman Joe Root would also be playing his 50th test match at Visakhapatnam. He has scored 4231 runs in 49 test matches at an average of 53.55. Root has slammed 11 centuries and 23 half centuries on his way to 50th test.

Kohli and Pujara put on a 226 run partnership after India lost early wickets. Pujara scored 119 runs before he was sent back to pavilion while Kohli remained unbeaten at 151. India was at 317/4 as the day ended.

Pujara, Vijay complete 3000 runs

It was a special innings for Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay at Visakhapatnam as both reached their 3000 run-mark in test cricket. While Vijay took 75 innings to get there, Pujara did the same with seven innings fewer.

Ravichandran Ashwin scored a half century on second day of test match against England as India were bowled out on 455 in the first innings.

Skipper Virat Kohli scored 167 runs.

In reply, England lost regular wickets as Joe Root hit half century on the other end.

At stumps on day 2, England were 103/5, trailing by 352 runs.

Debutant Jayant Yadav impresses with both bat and ball

Playing his first test match, Jayant Yadav scored important runs for the hosts' first innings. He had a half-century partnership with Ashwin, where he scored valuable 35 runs. With the ball, he took wicket of Moeen Ali and also assisted in a run-out.

Ashwin takes a fiver; Kohli hits fifty on day three

Ravichandran Ashwin picked up another five-wicket haul to bundle out the English team on day three of the second test.

Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow each scored half centuries to take England to 255 runs in the first innings.

At the end of the day, India has scored 98 runs for three wickets in the second innings with Kohli batting at 56.

R Ashwin took his 50th wicket of the year as he sent back Ben Stokes to the pavilion. Ashwin became the second player after Rangana Herath to take 50 wickets in 2016.

Indian cricket team took a 1-0 lead in the five-match test series as they beat England by 246 runs in the second test match at Visakhapatnam.

As the play started on the final day of the match, England kept losing wickets on a regular interval before being bowled out for 158 runs.

Debutant Jayant Yadav took the winning wicket for India.

Kohli named 'Man of the Match'

Indian captain Kohli was named the 'Man of the Match' for his knock of 167 runs in first innings and 81 in the second.

Jayant Yadav ended his maiden test match with four wickets while Ashwin took eight wickets in the match to become the highest wicket taker in 2016.

This was India's second biggest win in terms of runs (246 runs) against England.

Third test to start from 26 November

The third test match between India and England will start from 26 November 2016 at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali.
