The Indian women's hockey team is touring Australia for a three-match test series. The matches would be played from 23-27 November 2016.

The Indian team is on a high after winning the Women's Asian Champions Trophy earlier this month.

Both the teams had earlier met at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where the Australians crushed India 6-1.

Indian Team for Australia tour

An 18-member squad for the test series against Australia was announced by Hockey India on 12 November. Vandana Katariya has been appointed as the captain while Sunita Lakra would be her deputy. The team consists of two goal-keepers, five defenders, six mid-fielders and five forwards.

With two more matches remaining in the series, the next match will be played on 25 November, followed by a third and final one on 27 November.

Indian women lose to Australia in hockey

Australian women's hockey team crushed the Indian side 4-1 to level the three match-series 1-1.

The Hokeyroos took lead in the 8th minute and took it to 2-0 in the 26th.

Rani scored India's only goal in the very next minute.

The hosts then increased their lead and scored a goal each in 29th and 51st minute.

The finals will be played on 27th.

Australian women's hockey team edge past India in finals

The Australian women's hockey team defeated India in the final match of the three match test series. They won 3-1.

Captain Vandana Katariya gave India the lead in 17th minute, but Brooke Peris scored the equalizer in the 39th.

The Hockeyroos then took the lead in 41st minute and in the 58th minute extended the lead to 3-1.

Deepika named 'Player of the tournament'

Indian hockey player Deepika was adjourned as the 'Player of the Tournament' for her performance in the three match test series.
