WWE Elimination Chamber: The five greatest matches of all time

The Elimination Chamber is one of the most exciting match formats WWE has ever conjured up.

In this format, two wrestlers start the fight while four others are trapped in glass boxes across four corners of the ring.

After a certain time, each box opens up and another wrestler joins the fight.

Here are the greatest Elimination Chamber matches of all time.

Edge wins the WWE Championship in 2009

The 2009 Elimination Chamber was a match among John Cena, Chris Jericho, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Mike Knox and Rey Mysterio.

Edge was not even a part of the match but attacked Kingston and took his place.

The battle was intense and even Cena proved to be no match for the physicality inside the ring.

Edge finally speared Mysterio to get the win.

Triple H and Batista take down Randy Orton in 2005

This match remains famous for its great storytelling as tensions in Triple H's famed stable Evolution were tied in smoothly throughout the encounter.

Randy Orton had already pulled himself out of the group and was facing both Triple H and Batista in the match.

Chris Jericho, Benoit, and Edge were the other three participants.

Orton eliminated Batista but was finally pinned by Hunter.

The Undertaker earns his way to WrestleMania in 2008

This match was fought among heavyweights, namely The Undertaker, Batista, Big Daddy V, Khali, Finlay, and MVP.

The tension between Undertaker and Batista was well played out in the match with the others falling short of the skills of these two men.

The ending was executed brilliantly, with a smooth maneuver to counter Batista Bomb and Taker winning the match with a tombstone piledriver.

John Cena wins and loses his WWE Championship in 2006

2006 Elimination Chamber saw Carlito, Chris Masters, John Cena, Kane, Shawn Michaels, and Kurt Angle fighting for the WWE Championship.

Carlito and Masters worked as a team, and took out most of the important opponents until John Cena was left.

However, suddenly Carlito took down Masters and Cena attacked him.

Edge suddenly appeared, cashed in Money in The Bank, and defeated Cena.

The returning hero fulfills his dream in 2002's Elimination Chamber

Shawn Michaels returned in 2002 and took the WWE universe by storm.

He was entered into the first-ever Elimination Chamber match along with Booker T, Kane, Triple H, Rob Van Dam and Chris Jericho.

At the end, only Michaels and Triple H remained, with the two fighting desperately for victory while being barely able to stand.

Michaels won with a thunderous ovation following.
