Australia beat Pakistan in first ODI: Here're the records broken
Australia have hit form at the right time as they continued their march in ODIs.
After a stunning 3-2 series win against India earlier this month, the Aussies thrashed Pakistan in the first ODI by eight wickets in Sharjah.
Pakistan managed 280/5 with Haris Sohail hitting a ton.
Aussies surged past the target with skipper Aaron Finch leading the way,
How did the match pan out?
Besides Sohail's ton, Umar Akmal chipped in with 48.
Pakistan were 30-35 runs short with Shan Masood (40 off 62) and Sohail (101* off 114) not taking the desired risks.
Imad Wasim's 13-ball unbeaten 28 got them to 280.
In reply, Finch and Marsh (91*) added 172 runs for the second wicket.
That kept them ahead in the chase throughout the match.
Finch smashes 12th ODI career ton
Prior to this ton, Finch had scored a hundred 12 innings earlier.
In between, he had only one score of 50-plus (93 against India).
This was his 12th career ODI ton.
Finch equalled the likes of Marcus Trescothick, Eoin Morgan and Rahul Dravid in terms of career tons (12).
Finch now has 3,717 runs in ODI cricket.
Some other impressive milestones achieved
Akmal went past 500 runs in ODIs against Australia (535).
Marsh amassed his 14th career ODI fifty and a second against Pakistan.
Sohail hit his maiden ODI ton and also went past 1,000-run mark in the format (1,061).
Prior to this, he had managed 10 ODI fifties.
Mohammad Abbas and Masood both made their ODI debuts.
Aussies dominate the show against Pakistan
Australia managed their second highest successful run-chase in ODIs in Sharjah.
It is also their highest in day/night games at the venue.
This is also Australia's fourth ODI win in a row.
It was the first time in Pakistan's ODI history that the side played with six left-hand batsmen.
This was Pakistan's 10th loss in the last 11 ODIs against the Aussies.
