IPL 2019: CSK beat RR, here are the records broken

Chennai Super Kings rode on a superb half-century from skipper MS Dhoni to beat Rajasthan Royals in match number 12 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019.

Batting first, CSK posted a challenging 175/5 even though they were in a spot of bother early on.

In reply, Royals kept on losing regular wickets and couldn't get past the line.

MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja have now scored the most runs off an over in IPL 2019.

They plundered 28 runs off Jaydev Unadkat's final over which was also the last of the first innings.

The previous best was 25 runs by Sunil Narine off Varun Chakravarthy at Eden Gardens and 25 Robin Uthappa/ Andre Russell off Mohammed Shami (both in KKR vs KXIP).

Dhoni amasses his 21st career IPL fifty

Veteran Dhoni showed why he is a calm customer and a dangerous finisher even till this day.

The wicket-keeper batsman smashed 75* from 46 deliveries that included four boundaries and four sixes.

Dhoni notched his second highest career IPL score.

He also amassed his 21st career IPL fifty.

MSD now has 191 IPL sixes. He went past Suresh Raina (187).

Dhoni among the feats, unwanted record for Unadkat

This was Dhoni's fourth unbeaten score of 70-plus as a keeper. He went past KL Rahul (3). This was also his first 70-plus score against Royals in 18 IPL innings. Unadkat recorded his costliest spell in the IPL (1/54).

CSK lost three wickets for 27 runs. Suresh Raina and MSD played sensibly to add 61 runs.

Dhoni then joined hands with Dwayne Bravo to add 56 runs. The final assault came in the 20th over.

RR got off to a poor start with Deepak Chahar taking 2/19.

Rahul Tripathi and Steve Smith did the repair work. But CSK came back to stay afloat.

CSK continue their dominance over RR

This was the 21st meeting between the two teams in the IPL. CSK enjoy a 13-8 advantage. At the Chepauk, it was the seventh meeting. CSK have a tally of 6-1 at home. This was also CSK's third straight win and Rajasthan's third consecutive loss.
