The 29-year-old made the announcement on her Facebook page and said, "It was a difficult decision, but there is so much to celebrate."

Ivanovic said that she no longer felt fit enough to compete at the highest level so it was time to move on.

Inspired by Monica Seles, Ana took to tennis at the age of 5. She made her WTA debut in 2003, and played first main draw in 2004.

In 2005, Ana won her first career singles title in Canberra. That year she also made it to her first Grand Slam quarterfinal at Roland Garros.
