Archer opens up on his World Cup chances: Details here

The talented English pacer, Jofra Archer has been the talking point since a while now.

The Sussex player made his ODI debut for England against Ireland on Friday.

However, Archer was not named in the 15-man provisional squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019, but he still has a chance to seal a spot.

Here's what he had to say about his chances.

Archer will be the focal point against Pakistan

Archer will be the focal point against Pakistan

The 24-year-old, who was born in Barbados, was called into the England squad for the first time last month.

Notably, he became eligible to play for England earlier this year.

The pace-bowling all-rounder will use the upcoming ODIs against Pakistan to impress the selectors and force his way into the side.

But Archer is trying not to set his heart on World Cup selection.

I won't feel too bad if I'm left out: Archer

"Anyone would think about it [the World Cup] but I'll just try to play well and hope, I guess...Obviously the guys have been together a long time and they probably do deserve it so I won't feel too bad if I'm left out," said Archer

Despite 'unfair' claims, Archer gets a warm welcome

As per media reports, several England bowlers, who have been in the ODI circuit for some years, looked a bit disappointed regarding claims of Archer's eligibility for a World Cup spot.

Chris Woakes had stated that it would be morally unfair, besides adding that if someone had to miss out, then that would be unfortunate.

But Archer received a warm welcome into the set-up.

It's a really welcoming bunch of lads: Archer

"It's been very welcoming. Sometimes the media can get things wrong and misquote people. Since I've been here I didn't feel any malice at all. It's a really welcoming bunch of lads. I'm here with a great team. I'm happy," claimed Archer.

Our take

Will Archer make the cut?

Will Archer make the cut?

Archer, who had a productive campaign in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League, produced a decent display against Ireland after claiming 1/40.

But the rest of the pacers stood up as well.

Pacers Liam Plunkett, Tom Curran and David Willey are England's go to men.

Overall, they have a settled bowling unit and it is unlikely that Archer will make the cut.
