Federer wins 400th Slam match, beats Casper Ruud
Federer played his 400th career Slam match against Casper Ruud in the French Open 2019 on Friday.
And notably, the star player won the match in straight sets to reach the fourth round.
Federer, who made a return to French Open after a gap of several years, is enjoying a fine run so far.
He will be looking to continue in the same vein.
Federer reaches a special milestone at Majors
Federer, who made his Slam debut in the year 1999, has achieved this special landmark 20 years later.
The evergreen boss of tennis has been amazing in the two decades and one needs to laud him for maintaining the fitness levels even at the age of 37.
In his 20-year-career, Federer has been widely respected and honored by one and all.
Serena Williams only behind Federer in most Slam matches
Serena Williams is second on the list in terms of playing the most Grand Slam matches.
The veteran US star, who is a 23-time Slam winner, has 382 matches under her belt. She will face Sofia Kenin in the third round on Saturday and extend her tally to 383.
Serena is likely to follow Federer's footsteps and perhaps reach the 400-mark this year itself.
What about Djokovic and Rafa?
Djokovic has currently played 308 matches. He has 267 wins and 41 losses.
Approaching the 300-club is Spaniard Nadal.
The French Open defending champion has 292 Slam matches and it looks like that he would surpass the mark of 300 this year.
Federer's record could remain intact
Federer's record will be hard to surpass. He might end up being the leader in terms of Grand Slam matches played for a long time. The Swiss maestro has been fairly consistent in Slams and is undoubtedly the GOAT.
