The 2016-17 Ranji Trophy finals are being played between Mumbai and Gujarat at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.

Gujarat put on a handy lead of 100 runs

After losing their openers on just 37 runs, Gujarat batsmen played with caution and put on 328 runs on board in their first innings.

Parthiv Patel scored 90 runs, while Manprit Juneja went on to score 77 runs. They both put a partnership of 120 runs.

For Mumbai, Shardul Thakur picked up four wickets while Abhishek Nayar and Balwinder Sandhu picked up three each.

Parthiv Patel guides Gujarat to maiden Ranji title

Gujarat captain Parthiv Patel led the team to maiden victory in the finals of 2016-17 Ranji Trophy against defending champions Mumbai.

Chasing a target of 312 runs, Patel contributed 143 runs with a 54 run assistance from Manprit Juneja.

While Gujarat put a strong show on the last day, Mumbai showed lack of discipline in fielding.
