India beat Afghanistan: Here are the records broken

India bowled superbly to defend a paltry total of 224 against Afghanistan in match number 28 of the ICC World Cup 2019 on Saturday.

This was India's fourth victory in World Cup 2019 as they leapfrogged England on the points table.

Batting first, India scored 224/8. Afghanistan couldn't chase down the target with Mohammed Shami claiming a hat-trick.

This was his third successive knock of fifty-plus score in the ongoing World Cup.

The Indian captain became only the eighth Indian to surpass the 800-run mark in World Cup.

He also went past Mohammad Azharuddin (826) in this process.

Kohli became the fourth batsman to get past 800 runs in ODIs this year (855).

MS Dhoni recorded the slowest 25-plus score in CWC 19.

He scored a 52-ball 28 at a strike-rate of 53.84.

David Warner had the slowest 25-plus score earlier against Sri Lanka, when he got 26 off 48 balls at a rate of 54.17.

Hashmatullah Shahidi was dismissed caught and bowled by Jasprit Bumrah.

This was the second time he registered this dismissal in ODIs.

Afghanistan's Mujeeb Ur Rahman became the first spinner to dismiss an Indian batsman in the ongoing World Cup.

Previously, eight spinners went wicket-less against the Indians in CWC 19.

Kohli's last three ODI scores have been 82, 77 and 67.

The last time Kohli failed to convert a ton from three three successive 50+ scores was in 2011-12.

He raced to 117 career ODI scalps as he eclipsed Ishant Sharma (115).

Yuzvendra Chahal equalled Bhuvneshwar Kumar (24) for the most ODI wickets by an Indian this year in ODI cricket.

Najibullah Zadran is Afghanistan's highest run-scorer in World Cup

Afghanistan's Najibullah Zadran is now the nation's highest run-scorer in the World Cup (257). He overcame former record-holder Samiullah Shinwari (254). Shinwari achieved the same in 2015.

India lost Rohit Sharma (1) early on, but from there on the Men in Blue added three 50-plus stands.

Besides Kohli, none of the other batsmen got runs freely.

Jadhav's contribution was crucial as Afghan bowlers did a brilliant job.

In reply, India were in a spot of bother, with Afghanistan going at 106/2.

But Bumrah's double blow swung the match in India's favor.
