While the decision does not come as a surprise considering Pogba, what's surprising that United have rejected a chance to sign Brazilian superstar Neymar, who was a part of the swap deal.
The future of both players look uncertain.
Here are further details.
Both the players are reported to be unhappy at their respective clubs.
Neymar, on the other hand, has remained injury prone at PSG, while he has embroiled himself in a rape controversy, as he wants out.
Expressing their displeasure in play for the current club, both the players are looking to return to their former clubs. While Pogba could return to Juventus, Neymar is eyeing a return to Barcelona. Besides Juventus, Pogba has also expressed interest playing for Real Madrid.
The rejection of a chance to sign Neymar sure comes as a shock.
However, analyzing the reason behind it could make sense.
It is believed that the club is unwilling to meet the demands and wage of the Brazilian.
Neymar, who earns almost £900,000-a-week in Paris, is too much for United to give away.
They are already struggling with Alexis Sanchez's £500,000-a-week deal.
With PSG willing to sell Neymar, they would want somebody to replace him.
Therefore, it's natural that they went for a swap deal with United for Pogba.
However, now that is reportedly rejected, Neymar path has been seemingly cleared for a return to Blaugrana.
Barca are reportedly willing to pay €100m, along with Philippe Coutinho, while he is reported to have accepted the terms.
United already did invest a lot on Pogba, and chairman Ed Woodward seems determined that they don't want risk by investing even further in Neymar.
While Pogba may be struggling, he is still a top player at Old Trafford.
Having already rejected an offer earlier form Madrid, United have clearly indicated that the World Cup winning Frenchman is not for sale.
Any club would be tempted with the offer to have Neymar at their club. However, it was not the case with United.
Analyzing further if they should have gone ahead with the swap deal, the author feels that the club may have done the right thing.
Also, considering the rough nature of English football, it is uncertain if Neymar would click in the EPL.
