England Cricket Board (ECB) came up with an announcement last year that a new format of the game would begin in 2020.

Named The Hundred, the tournament would involve a 100-ball per side competition.

A total of eight city-based clubs would be playing the tournament, involving Lord's, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham, Cardiff, Southampton and The Oval.

Proud and honored

Following his appointment, Warne said that he was not just proud, but honored to be the head coach of Lord's in The Hundred.

He also relished the opportunity to work in the tournament with modern players and was looking forward to the challenge.

"This tournament will unearth some heroes and hopefully some future World Cup stars for England and other countries," said Warne.

"I always want to be ahead of the curve"

"I always want to be ahead of the curve because cricket benefits from innovation and that was the case in 2008 with the IPL, when I was captain-coach of the Rajasthan Royals," added Warne.

Warne further stated that he was fascinated by the concept of The Hundred, just like the IPL.

He explained how he built the Rajasthan Royals (RR) with a wide range of players from numerous backgrounds and ages.

"I can't wait to build the same mix of players to entertain the fans who come down to Lord's for The Hundred," concluded Warne.

Female coach

Lisa Keightley appointed coach for female Lord's-based team

Asides Warne, Lisa Keightley has been appointed the coach for the female team of the club for the same tournament.

Lisa too expressed her delight and was honored for the opportunity presented.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a coach in England and the prestige and opportunity of this role made it an easy decision for me to come back," said Lisa.
