Cameroon beat Ghana to reach AFCON final

Cameroon defeated Ghana 2-0 to make it to the Africa Cup of Nations final.

Both the sides were goalless until the 72nd minute when Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui cashed in on the poor Ghanaian defence, to open the score line. The second goal came from Christian Bassogog in the stoppage time.

In the final, Cameroon will face Egypt, who beat Burkina Faso in semis, on penalties.

16 teams were drawn into 4 pools of 4 teams each. They include : Group A - Gabon, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Guinea-Bissau; Group B - Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal, Zimbabwe; Group C - Ivory Coast, DR Congo, Morocco, Togo; Group D - Ghana, Mali, Egypt, Uganda.

After the group stage, contested in a round-robin format, top two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals.

8 teams that qualified from the Group Stage are: Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Senegal, Tunisia, RD Congo, Morocco, Egypt, and Ghana.

Hosts Gabon and defending champions Ivory Coast were eliminated in this stage without a single win to their name.

Further in the quarterfinals, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Cameroon, and Ghana, won their games and booked their spots in the semis.

Cameroon defeated Egypt 2-1 in the Africa Cup of Nations final, to become the champions of Africa.

The Indomitable Lions who were trailing by a goal at the first half, produced a stunning comeback to seal the victory.

While Egypt's Elneny scored the opener, Nicolas N'koulou equalized in 59th minute. The winner came from Besiktas striker Vincent Aboubakar in the 89th minute.
