Virat Kohli backs Shreyas Iyer in India's ODI team
Team India skipper Virat Kohli has backed the 24-year-old after the latter produced two valiant displays against West Indies in the recently concluded ODI series.
Iyer has shown that he can be counted upon.

Iyer amassed two successive fifties in the ODI series and played a major role in helping India win 2-0.
One highlight was his partnership with Kohli in both the games.
The 24-year-old, who was keen to make the most out of the series, has presented a strong case for himself.
Iyer played with a lot of confidence and struck the ball well.

"Shreyas has come along really well, he's just stepped in and played with a lot of confidence and I think that augurs really well for the team. He's presented a strong case for himself to be a strong contender and a regular feature in the middle if he keeps continuing to play like that and takes responsibility in that manner," Kohli said.
Is Iyer the call for India's number four position?
India's number four position in batting has bothered the side for a few years now after all the chopping and changes.
It was evident in the 2019 World Cup as well with numerous faces being tried out.
In the series against WI, Rishabh Pant was given a crack.
Pant failed with scores of 20 and 0.
Iyer was asked to bat at number five.

Before the second ODI, the promising batsman had stated that he is aware of the vacancy for the number four spot.
Iyer then stated that he would be happy batting anywhere for the side.

'I was exactly the same when I came in'
"I was exactly the same when I came in, any opportunity I got I wanted to win games for my team and play according to the situation. You have to take risks - he was brave under pressure - you need to reveal your game. I think he's heading in the right direction," said Kohli about Iyer.

It's time that the Indian selectors and management back Iyer. He looks solid and mature. He looks like someone who is ready to be the ideal number four for India. Iyer also has time by his side. Therefore, he should be backed to shine.
