As of now, Dhoni is in Delhi with his family, following a two-week stint, which ended on August 15.
As a result of this stint, Dhoni did not play the limited-overs series against Windies recently.
Dhoni was ranked Honorary Lieutenant Colonel by the Indian Territorial Army in 2011. He remains only the second Indian cricketer after Kapil Dev to receive the rank. Also, this was his first major outing with the army ever since he was honored with the rank.
As per the army, Dhoni was posted for his duties in Jammu & Kashmir, with the Victor Force unit, and was handed the responsibility of patrol, guard and post duty.
He was also at the Leh district on the eve of the Independence Day as he was seen playing cricket with the kids in the valley, with pictures of him going viral.
During his stint with the army, Dhoni also took some time out to play the game of volleyball with the Territorial Army battalion.
The video of the same was posted on various social media platforms, while he was playing the game wearing a regular outfit.
While the exact location was not disclosed, it seemed to be the army compound itself.
Now that Dhoni is done and dusted with his army duties, for now, he would be wanting to get back to playing cricket again.
While there has been no confirmation regarding when he is returning, it is being assumed that he is likely to return next month during the home series against South Africa.
The series gets underway from September 15 with the T20Is.
