Misbah was the front runner for the post since a while now.
The interviews of candidates for the head coach post were conducted on Thursday.
Former Aussie star Dean Jones was also interviewed.
However, Misbah looks set to pip him.
Besides Misbah and Jones, former Pakistan cricketer Mohsin Hasan Khan was also interviewed.
However, according to a report in the Dawn, both Mohsin and Dean Jones may not be successful for different reasons.
For Mohsin, his age factor could go against him.
Meanwhile, Jones could miss the bus because he is a foreigner and Pakistan cricket hasn't enjoyed much success with foreign coaches.
Earlier, according to a report in Dunya News, it was stated that Misbah's role could see a single person as chief selector and head coach to whom the domestic coaches would be bound to report.
The report added that Misbah will be given the power to select both the players and then coach them for major tournaments.
However, this is unknown as of now.
Misbah was a true leader and a terrific batsman for Pakistan cricket team.
He led the side well in the past and retired as a legend of the game.
His longevity helped Pakistan do well.
Misbah is someone who is respected by the fraternity.
His experience and charisma could benefit the side.
Pakistan need to be consistent and Misbah's guidance could help the side.
Meanwhile, the interviews for the post of bowling coach are likely to be conducted by the five-member panel of the PCB.
Former Pakistan great Waqar Younis, who had earlier served as the Pakistan head coach, also appeared for the post of bowling coach.
Former West Indies great Courtney Walsh is likely to appear for the interview through video-link, could prove to be competition.
Pakistan will be playing six Tests, three ODIs and six T20Is in the 2019-20 international season. A grueling season begins with hosting Sri Lanka for a two-Test series in October 2019.
