The veteran defeated Elina Svitolina to reach the US Open 2019 final.
Serena will be up against Bianca Andreescu in Saturday's final in New York.
This is Serena's fourth final since winning the 2017 Australian Open.

Williams tames Svitolina 6-3, 6-1
Serena beat the Ukranian fifth seed 6-3, 6-1 to progress.
She dominated the game that resulted in 33 winners.
The valiant effort saw the match lasting for one hour and 10 minutes.
"The first two games were long games and I know how she can play - she is a good player," Williams said.
"I wanted to hang in there."
Serena has unbelievable strength, says Svitolina
Svitolina was quick to praise legend Serena and highlighted her strengths. "She has unbelievable strength. She gives lots of power," Svitolina said. "There's lots of power behind her shots all the time. That's what makes her an unbelievable, legendary tennis player."
Andreescu seals a thriller against Bencic
Andreescu overcame 22-year-old Swiss Belinda Bencic 7-6 (7-3) 7-5, winning the last five games of a thrilling match.
Andreescu is participating at the Flushing Meadows main draw for the first time in her career.
This is also only her fourth career Slam in terms of participation.
The promising player had earlier won the Rogers Cup four weeks back after Serena withdrew in the final.
Andreescu credits the hard work for this special moment
"I think it's just all the hard work I've put in through the years," she said. "If someone told me a year ago I would be in the US Open final this year, I'd tell them they were crazy. It's just surreal."
