Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin etched his name in the history books as he stands alongside spin great Muttiah Muralitharan, to become fastest to 350 Test wickets.
He claimed eight wickets in the just-concluded Test against South Africa to attain the feat, as India won the tie by 203 runs.
Following the feat, he revealed which has been his most memorable Test wicket to date.
Speaking on his most special wicket to date, Ashwin said that while there are a number of them, his maiden Test wicket of Darren Bravo remains special, along with David Warner and AB de Villiers.
"Warner's wicket in Bangalore on Day 2 morning is one of the special. Not to forget the AB de Villiers' wicket in Nagpur in 2015," he told BCCI.
Ashwin said that while he was happy with the records he has achieved to date, he is not driven by records and would rather focus on the task at hand.
"It's important to stick to the process every single day, try and stick to the basics, keep it as simple as possible because that's what makes it easier for you every time," said Ashwin.
Ashwin says that while records would keep coming as long as he keeps performing, he is looking to keep himself prepared in the best possible manner, prior to every game.
"Try and be in the best possible mental space and physical space. All these are things that I play inside my head and be as prepared as possible getting into a game," he added.
"But, with regards to how I go about my work, how I don't want to chase anything. I want to keep it very simple. That's what I have learned over the last year," concluded Ashwin.
Following are some records held by Ashwin in Test cricket:
- Fastest Indian to claim 50, 100, 200 and 250 Test wickets.
- First Indian to score a ton and claim a five-for in a Test on two occasions.
- India's leading wicket-taker in a four-Test series.
- World's highest wicket-taker, with 72 wickets, in 2016.
- Fastest to claim 25 fifers in Tests.
