With just months after leading Leicester City to a Premier League victory, the club has sacked their manager Claudio Ranieri.

The club has failed to repeat their heroics of the previous year, as the Foxes ended just a point above the bottom three.

Leicester City Football Club has parted company with its first team manager, Claudio Ranieri," the club said in a statement.

Claudio Ranieri was born in Rome on 20 October 1951.

He kick-started his professional football career in 1973 after being signed by Rome based club, A. S. Roma.

Major part of Ranieri's career was spent at F.C. Catanzaro, where he spent eight years and made 225 appearances for the club.

Later, he made 92 appearances for Catania and 40 for Palermo.

Ranieri's managerial debut

After a managerial stint at a couple of small clubs, Claudio Ranieri joined Cagliari in 1988 and helped the club gain promotion to Serie A from the third division Serie C1 in successive seasons.

Managerial career of Ranieri

1993-2000Managerial career of Ranieri

After two years at Napoli, Ranieri joined Fiorentina in 1993. He helped win the Serie B title in his first year itself.

He joined Spain's Valencia in 1997 after a less successful season at Fiorenta. Under him, Valencia finished fourth in La Liga and also qualified for UEFA Champions League.

In 1999, he joined Atletico Madrid, but resigned soon.

2000-2004Ranieri's four years at Chelsea

Claudio Ranieri joined Chelsea in September 2000; the club's performance not so noteworthy in the first two seasons.

He was also widely criticized for over-rotating the squad.

The 2002-03 season turned out to be the best one for Chelsea as they ended runners-up at the Premier League and went unbeaten for the entire league season.

He was relieved of his duties in 2004.

2015'King Claudio' at Leicester City

Ranieri joined Leicester City in July 2015, and started with a 4-2 win over Sunderland in the first match of the season.

He guided the team to Barclays Premier League title victory in 2016, first time in the club's 135-year old history.

The 'fairytale' success led to media giving him 'King Claudio' title.

He drew a lot of praise for his inspirational leadership skills.


After guiding Leicester to Premier League victory, he was named the 2016 Premier League Manager of the Season, and LMA Manager of the Year. He was also awarded the Enzo Bearzot Award (Best Italian Manager), as well as the 2016 Best FIFA Men's Coach Award.

Sacked Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri released a statement in which he said his dream was broken after he was sacked.

He said, "After the euphoria of last season and being crowned champions, all I dreamt of was staying with Leicester. Sadly this was not to be."

He also thanked all the team members and staff at the Leicester.
