Indian opener Rohit Sharma scripted history as he scored his maiden Test double hundred, in the third Test against South Africa in Ranchi on Sunday.
Prior to scoring the double hundred, he also went past the 500-run mark in this series as he is the highest run-scorer in this series.
Meanwhile, we take a look at the records he has scripted with this feat.
Fifth Indian to score two 150+ scores in a series
Prior to scoring his double hundred, Rohit became the fifth Indian to score two 150+ scores in a Test series.
He joins the elite list of Vinoo Mankad, Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag, along with his team-mate Murali Vijay.
This was also the overall sixth instance of the same, with Gavaskar doing so on two occasions (vs Windies, 1978-79 and vs Australia, 1985-86).
First Indian to score 500+ Test series runs against Proteas
Rohit has now become the first Indian to go past the 500-run landmark in a Test series against the Proteas.
He had already broken the previous record for the most number of runs in a series against the side in Tests when he went past 400 runs.
Mohammad Azharuddin earlier held this record when he scored 388 in a series.
Fifth Indian opener to score 500+ runs in a series
Rohit has now also become the fifth Indian opener to score 500plus runs in a Test series. He joins the likes of Mankad, Budhi Kunderan, Gavaskar and Sehwag. The last Indian opener to do so was Sehwag, against Pakistan in 2005.
