Former India wicket-keeper batsman Farokh Engineer has made a scathing attack on the current Indian selection committee led by MSK Prasad.
Engineer termed Prasad and Company as 'Mickey Mouse selection committee'.
He also said the selection committee members were serving tea to Indian skipper Virat Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma, during the ICC World Cup 2019.
Here's more on the same.
How are the selectors qualified, questions Engineer
Engineer lashed out at the selection committee and questioned their qualification.
"How are the selectors qualified? Between them, have they played about 10-12 Test matches. I didn't even know one of the selectors during the World Cup, because he was wearing the India blazer and he said he was one of the selectors," said Engineer to The Times of India.
'All they were doing was getting Anushka cups of tea'
Engineer also stated that he saw the selectors serving cups of tea to Bollywood actress Anushka during the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. "All they were doing was getting Anushka Sharma (Kohli's wife) cups of tea," said Engineer.
This is how the Indian selection committee looks like
When you look at the Indian selection committee, the members never went on to make it big for Team India in the past.
It is headed by MSK Prasad (6 Tests, 17 ODIs) while former India cricketers Devang Gandhi (4 Tests, 3 ODIs), Sarandeep Singh (3 Tests, 5 ODIs), Jatin Paranjpe (4 ODIs) and Gagan Khoda (2 ODIs) are the other four members.
MSK Prasad-led committee hasn't been up to the mark
A lot of fingers were pointed towards the Indian selection committee following the side's exit from the 2019 World Cup.
The selectors were also in focus regarding the omission of Ambati Rayudu.
The MSK Prasad-led committee never managed to find a solution for India's number four batting problems for a while.
That problem exists till date and was an issue during the CWC.
Kohli-Kumble tale was an ugly one
Meanwhile, skipper Kohli has also been embroiled in controversies.
The most famous issue that grabbed headlines was his fallout with former Indian head coach Anil Kumble.
The latter resigned from his position after terming their relation as untenable.
Recently, outgoing CoA chief Vinod Rai said he had asked Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar to solve the issue.
