The Riyadh sports season had an epic start, as WWE Crown Jewel pay-per-view presented a spectacular event at the King Fahd International Stadium on Sunday.
From historical moments to some shocking results, the event had it all and lived up to the hype and expectations.
On the same note, we analyze the major takeaways.
While fans would have expected Cain Velasquez to tame Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship, with the latter achieving the same, nine years ago in UFC, but WWE was right at making Velasquez lose.
Due to this loss, WWE preserved its reputation that pro-wrestling is a whole different sport than MMA, and success in the latter does not guarantee the same in pro-wrestling.
WWE came up with an interesting concept, the World Cup.
However, two years in a row, it has been organized in the wrong manner.
The concept of the World Cup is that teams from around the world compete.
As for WWE, most of the teams competing are from the USA itself, which automatically makes the concept of the tournament redundant.
WWE has a unique tendency to make the local talent lose in his/her hometown on most occasions.
However, the case with WWE's first superstar from Saudi Arabia, Mansoor, has been interesting, as twice in a row, he has won at home.
While it might be a concept WWE is exclusively following for Saudi, but it will be a welcome move for most WWE fans.
When celebrities make a one-time appearance in WWE for a fight, most of them end up winning their matches.
However, interestingly, it always comes with a price, as they either end up getting humiliated, by getting further beaten up, or turn heel.
Even Tyson Fury suffered the same fate, of getting humiliated by Braun Strowman, following his win over the latter.
Women did make history with their first-ever match in Saudi.
While the match was an emotional one for both Natalya and Lacey Evans, the match was fought more or less like an exhibition match, with no real intensity.
Even though, it is understandable, since it was the first-ever match in Saudi, a little more intensity would have made the fight even special.
