1st Test, India vs Bangladesh: Records that could be scripted
India will be aiming to maintain their ascendancy in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.
Many records could also be scripted.
We look at the same.
Rohit can script these crucial feats in the first Test
Rohit Sharma has amassed 2.114 runs in 30 Tests so far.
He needs 79 runs to get past former India legend Vijay Hazare (2,192) in terms of career Test runs.
The senior cricketer has six Test hundreds to his name and needs one more to equal the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Hazare and Vijay Manjrekar in terms of career Test tons (7 each).
Kohli could go on to amass these records
The 31-year-old can also surpass the likes of Greg Chappell (7,110), Stephen Fleming (7,172) and Chris Gayle (7,214).
Kohli has 26 career Test tons and needs one century more to equal the likes of Graeme Smith and Allan Border (27 each).
Rahane in line to reach 4,000 Test runs
He needs 25 more to register the mark of 4,000 Test runs.
Rahane will become the 16th Indian batsman to achieve this feat.
He is also in line to get past Murali Vijay (3,982) in terms of career Test runs.
A ton will see him equal Vijay's tally of 12 in Tests.
Saha can get past Dhoni and DK with this record
Wriddhiman Saha has seven dismissals against Bangladesh in two Test matches.
Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has 15 from three Tests.
If Saha can get nine dismissals across the two innings, he will surpass MSD in terms of most dismissals in India-Bangladesh Tests.
He can get past Dinesh Karthik (12).
Saha needs three more dismissals to register the mark of 100 in Tests (97).
Ashwin can join Kumble and Bhajji with this record
India's star spinner R Ashwin has taken 357 career Test scalps. However, 249 of these have come at home. Ashwin can become the third Indian spinner to get past 250 scalps at home. Anil Kumble (350) and Harbhajan Singh (265) have taken 250-plus wickets.
