Day-Night Test, India vs Bangladesh: Records that could be scripted
There are plenty of things going around to build the excitement for this historic moment.
Besides the key battles on offer, players will be vying for many milestones.
Here we look at the records that could be scripted in this Test.
These batsmen could script milestones in Tests this year
Mayank Agarwal has amassed 740 runs this year in Tests.
He has smashed 88 fours. Another 12 fours will help him reach the mark of 100.
Steve Smith is the only batsman (92 fours), who is above Mayank this year.
Rohit can script these crucial feats in the first Test
Rohit Sharma has amassed 2.120 runs in 31 Tests so far.
He needs 73 runs to get past former India legend Vijay Hazare (2,192) in terms of career Test runs.
The senior cricketer has six Test hundreds to his name and needs one more to equal the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Hazare and Vijay Manjrekar in terms of career Test tons (7 each).
Kohli could go on to amass these records
The 31-year-old can also surpass the likes of Greg Chappell (7,110), Stephen Fleming (7,172) and Chris Gayle (7,214).
Kohli has 26 career Test tons and needs one century more to equal the likes of Graeme Smith and Allan Border (27 each).
Team India eyeing these feats in Kolkata
If India win the Test match, this will be a third successive series whitewash.
Team India is also eyeing a fifth Test series win in a row.
India have won six Tests in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship and could notch a seventh victory on the trot.
Meanwhile, India are also looking for their 12th successive Test series win at home.
Rahane and Jadeja can surpass these legends
India's vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane (4,061 runs) needs 94 more to surpass the mark of Gautam Gambhir (4,154) in terms of career Test runs. Ravindra Jadeja (1,832 runs) needs 69 runs more to surpass Yuvraj Singh (1,900).
