IPL 2020 auction: Five foreign players who could be snubbed
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 auction is set to be held on December 19 in Kolkata.
Last month, a total of 71 players were released by IPL teams.
A total of 971 players (713 Indians and 258 overseas players) have registered for the upcoming auction.
Here we look at five foreign players who could be snubbed in the auction.
Veteran Lankan ace Angelo Mathews might not find any takers
Veteran Sri Lankan ace Angelo Mathews set his base price at Rs. 2 crore.
The senior cricketer featured last in the IPL 2017 season.
He went on to play just three games for Delhi that term.
However, Mathews was released and didn't find any takers in the IPL 2019 auction.
He had set a base price of Rs. 2 crore last season as well.
Dale Steyn could miss out after being released by RCB
Dale Steyn came on as a replacement bowler for Nathan Coulter-Nile, who was ruled out due to a back injury.
Steyn came in and impressed after claiming four scalps in two games.
However, he faced an injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
Steyn was released by RCB last month and given his injury spells, he could be ignored.
Carlos Brathwaite's IPL journey could end this time
Carlos Brathwaite stunned the world after his blitz in the final of the 2016 ICC World T20 against England.
He made his IPL debut for Delhi that year.
However, over the last four seasons, he failed considerably.
He went on to represent Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight RIders.
He was released by KKR after playing just twice last season.
Brathwaite hasn't done anything significant.
Australia's Josh Hazlewood might miss the bus
Josh Hazlewood has been a top performer for Australia in Tests for a long time now.
Hazlewood has been a match-winner for the Aussies in the longest format.
However, he hasn't played much limited-overs cricket in order to be injury-free.
With no IPL experience and limited exposure in T20Is, Hazlewood might once again go unsold.
He didn't find any takers last season as well.
England's David Willey is likely to be snubbed
David Willey is a solid T20 customer and can offer a lot.
He came on as a replacement for the injured Kedar Jadhav in IPL 2018.
The Chennai Super Kings player was below-par in their title-winning campaign.
He was retained for IPL 2019 but he pulled out due to family reasons.
And this time, he was released by the franchise and could be snubbed.
