Lara feels these two Indians can break his 400-run tally
While Australia's David Warner was on the verge of breaking the same, a couple of weeks back, critics have backed a number of cricketers to do so.
As for Lara himself, he has picked two Indians who can do it.
Lara backs Rohit Sharma and Prithvi Shaw for the same
"I know he's fell off the radar a little bit, Prithvi Shaw was one of those attacking options. Hey, here's a 19-year-old who has the world in front of him, hopefully, he can come back soon," he added.
Warner came closest among active players
Among active players, Warner has come closest to the same, having scored an unbeaten 335 against Pakistan in Adelaide, last month, during the Day-Night Test.
While he looked well on course to break Lara's record, he decided to put his team first, as skipper Tim Paine declared the innings.
Australia sealed the match by an innings and 48 runs.
Rohit and Prithvi
Rohit and Prithvi have had their moments in Test cricket
As far as Rohit and Prithvi are concerned, both have had their moments in Test cricket.
Rohit, who was recently promoted as an opener in the format, has been remarkable, as he scored his top score of 212 batting in the same spot.
Meanwhile, Prithvi too made history when he smashed a ton on his Test debut, scoring 134 against the Windies.
Warner too had backed Rohit to break Lara's record
Warner explained that while longer boundaries in Australia made it difficult for him to go for 400, he smartly backed Rohit.
"In the end, I tried to run twos to lift the ante because I couldn't actually think like I could clear the ropes. I think, one day, if I've to name a player, I reckon it could be Rohit Sharma.," he had said.
Do you know?
Rohit averages 88.33 in Tests at home
Rohit has had an average career in Tests so far, as he averages 46.54 in 53 innings. However, when it comes to home, he has almost the double of it, as it reads 88.33 in 20 innings. Judging by this, he certainly has a chance.
