The Royal Challengers Bangalore may have to play their opening games of the IPL without captain Virat Kohli.

Kohli said that his shoulder injury, which he sustained during the test series with Australia will take a few more weeks to recover. He is likely to miss first 3 matches.

Kohli said the team physio will make an official statement on the time-span for recovery.

Virat Kohli suffered a shoulder injury on the first day of the Ranchi test after he landed hard while attempting to save a boundary.

He was forced off the field, and had to sit out for the first time in his test career. BCCI officials said the injury was not serious and that Kohli was expected to recover soon.

Speaking to the media, Kohli said "Still a few weeks to go till I can be 100 per cent on the field...It (shoulder) is not fine as of now. I don't know exactly. The physio will give an official statement soon on the time span."

He will play the match against Mumbai Indians on 14 April.

A statement from the BCCI said, "BCCI Medical Team on Wednesday confirmed that Indian Cricket Team and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Mr. Virat Kohli has regained match fitness."
