Ajinkya Rahane and skipper Steve Smith scored half centuries each to help Rising Pune Supergiant register victory against Mumbai Indians in 2017 Indian Premier League.

Chasing 185, Rahane scored 60 runs off 34 balls. He hit six fours and three sixes.

Smith remained unbeaten on 84 runs, hitting the winning six on the second last ball of the match. RPS won by seven wickets.

After a largely forgettable debut last year, Rising Pune Supergiant would be hosts to Mumbai Indians in second match of the 2017 Indian Premier League.

Mumbai is led by Rohit Sharma, who missed a bulk of India's home season because of an injury.

The home team will see a new leader this season in Steve Smith, who will be captaining his first IPL match.

Playing his first match for RPS, Imran Tahir picked up three wickets, two of which came in one over. While Rajat Bhatia got two wickets, Ashoke Dinda bowled the most expensive final over of the IPL history, giving away 30 runs to Hardik Pandya.
