The office bearers of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have asked the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to nominate former BCCI president N Srinivasan as the board's representative at the International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings.

Srinivasan met BCCI's acting secretary, treasurer and acting president during the opening match of the IPL, after which the trio went on to meet the CoA.

History

Srinivasan's career in cricket administration

Narayanaswami Srinivasan became the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2011, before which he was held the post of the Secretary.

He held the post for two years, and became the president again in 2013.

In June 2014, he became the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), only to be removed in November same year.

After former BCCI president A.C. Muthiah's reign at the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association ended in 2002-03, Srinivasan has been the head of the association for 14 consecutive times. He was last year appointed as the president without any opposition.

Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was arrested for passing match related sensitive information to the bookies. He was found guilty of discussing match fixing activities.

While the investigation was on, Srinivasan was asked to step down from the post of BCCI president by the Supreme Court of India.

He was then restrained from holding the position of president in the board.

Chairman of CoA, Vinod Rai has said that they would seek directions from the Supreme Court in regard with Srini's eligibility to represent the BCCI at the ICC.

Is Srini eligible to represent BCCI at ICC?

According to the Lodha Panel reforms, Srinivasan is not eligible to hold a position in the office of BCCI as he violates three major recommendations.

However, there have been no restrictions on the BCCI in appointing a representative to attend the ICC meetings.

In the previous ICC meeting, the Supreme Court had appointed Vikram Limaye and two other office bearers to represent BCCI.
