India have been drawn to play against Canada in the Davis Cup World Group Play-offs. India will fly to Canada to play the tie in September this year.

The winner of the tie will then advance to the 2018 Davis Cup World Group.

India and Canada have never played against each other and it will be the first ever face-off between both the countries.

The draws for the 2017 Davis Cup World Group play-offs were announced last night in London.

Eight losing teams from the World Group and eight winning teams from Zonal Group I final round ties will play each other and the winners will get a spot in the 2018 Davis Cup.

The play-off are scheduled to be played from 15 to 17 September 2017.

India's record in the World Group Play-offs

India have lost all the last three play-off ties, losing to Serbia in 2014 Czech Republic in 2015 and Spain in 2016. It was in 2011 that India made its last World Group appearance. India had then lost in the first round to Serbia.

Reigning champions Argentina will face Kazakhstan in the world Group Play-offs after being eliminated from the World Group by Italy. The tie will be hosted by Kazakhstan.

Last year's runners-up and second seeded Croatia have been drawn to play an away tie against Colombia.

Portugal will host Germany, while Russia will be a host to Hungary in the play-off ties.

The other play-off ties

In other ties, Switzerland will host Belarus, while Japan will welcome the visit of Brazil. Netherlands will look to end their three-year absence from the World Group as they host Czech Republic.
