Mohammed Shami has been named in the 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and is back in the ODI team after a gap of two years.

On his return, Shami said, "After recovering from injury, I have focused on increasing strength and improving fitness."

Shami will play a key role if India need to win the ICC tournament.

AboutWho is Mohammed Shami?

Mohammed Shami is an Indian right-arm fast-medium bowler from Uttar Pradesh, who plays for West Bengal in the domestic tournaments.

He made his debut in the first class cricket in November 2010 and List-A debut a few months later in February 2011.

Shami was also a part of the India A team that toured West Indies in the year 2012.

2013ODI and test debut for the pacer

For his brilliant performance in the domestic circuit, Shami was awarded a place in the national team in 2013.

He made his ODI debut against Pakistan in January 2013 and bowled four maiden overs.

In November same year, he made his Test debut against West Indies and ended up taking nine wickets, the most by any Indian pacer in his debut match.

Mohammed Shami led India's bowling attack at the 2015 ICC World Cup.

He played seven matches and finished the tournament with 17 wickets at an economy rate of 4.81.

Shami's performance was one of the best amongst all the pacers. He was extensively used by Captain Dhoni and bowled 77 overs out of 80 available to him.

Injury on the left knee

After the 2015 WC, Shami underwent a knee surgery, following a recurring pain in his left knee. His injury forced him out of the national team until end of 2016. He made a comeback in the test team against New Zealand.
