Terror-threat looms ahead of Indo-Pak ICC match

Sportskeeda reported today that the UK intelligence has been alerted about a possible terror attack which could take place in the upcoming ICC match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at Edgbaston.

The BCCI and its Pakistan's counterpart PCB have been alerted about the same.

However, the BCCI has been asked to not talk to the press or be alarmed by the threat.

India and Pakistan are set to face each other in Edgbaston on 4 June in the Champions Trophy's group stage.

Almost a billion fans will tune into this sports battle and many are expected to grace the cricket ground to show their support for their home teams.

Commenting on the match, former Pakistan captain Asif Iqbal said it's a "lot more than" just cricket.

India have not lost any 50-over World Cup or Twenty20 showdown to Pakistan, and a win would give a good lead over Sri Lanka and South Africa. However, Pakistan have won 2 out of 3 Champions Trophy encounters against India.

While the Champions Trophy is expected to take place in London, Birmingham, and Cardiff, the ICC said that the security was being reviewed, especially after the Manchester attack.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) too revealed that it had sent a security officer to England to take cognizance of events ahead of the tournament.
