UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor has been warned against using mixed martial arts tactics in a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather next month.

McGregor has signed an agreement that he would face serious financial penalties if he makes use of MMA.

UFC president Dana White said, "If McGregor does anything aside from legal boxing attacks, it would "100%" affect McGregor's portion of the purse."

In March 2017, Floyd Mayweather Jr., a professional boxer with a 49-0 record announced that he could come out of retirement to fight the mixed martial artist and reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.

Ireland's McGregor had always insulted Mayweather, challenging him for a boxing match from time to time.

It was finally decided that two would fight on 26 August 2017.

Millions at stake for both the fighters

While McGregor and Mayweather signed a confidentiality agreement not to speak about the prize money, it is speculated that Mayweather could win about $100 million, while the Irishman could pocket $75 million.

As a promotion for the upcoming match in August, McGreogor and Mayweather are on a four city pre-fight press conferences where the duo are seen hurling insults at each other.

In Los Angeles, McGregor further instigated Mayweather by saying that he would knock the latter in just four rounds, while Mayweather mocked McGregor by entering at Toronto event with an Ireland flag.

In their third press conference in New York, the American boxing champion threw a bundle of $1 bills at McGregor saying, "That's all you're worth."
