The Sri Lankan Cricket Board has appointed Chaminda Vaas as the new bowling coach for the team ahead of the series against India.

He replaces Champaka Ramanayake, who resigned citing personal reasons.

Vaas has been working with Sri Lanka's feeder squads to the national team since 2016 and will be guiding SL's pace attack for the India's tour of Sri Lanka.

Vaas's career in numbers

Considered as one of Sri Lanka's most successful fast bowlers, Vaas has 355 wickets from 111 tests and 400 ODI wickets from 322 matches. He also holds the record for best ODI bowling figures taking eight wickets from eight overs.

Former Sri Lankan captain Hashan Tillakaratne has been appointed as the temporary batting coach of the team ahead of the India series.

The 50-year old will be the first batting coach of the team, since Marvan Atapattu in 2014.

After working as a national selector from January 2013 to April 2015, Tillakaratne has been a coach in the SLC system since December 2016.
