Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has accused that the national team coach Mickey Arthur verbally abused him in front of former captain and current chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq at the national cricket academy in Lahore.

Speaking to the media, the 27-year old said that Arthur used poor language and said derogatory things to him. Akmal claims that Arthur also suggested him to play cub cricket.

Arthur issues an ultimatum to Akmal

After failing multiple fitness tests, Akmal was denied a central contract and was also dropped from the squad for Pakistan's next tour. Earlier in August, Arthur had given an ultimatum to Akmal, asking him to work on fitness or forget his place in national team.

Alleging that he was stopped from using the National Cricket Academy's services, Akmal said that he was dropped from the team without giving a warning. He came back recently from a rehabilitation program for his knee injury.

He added, "I can tolerate anything but I don't think anyone has the right to bad language. It was an extremely painful thing for me personally."

Reacting to Umar Akmal's claim, Mickey Arthur said, "Umar Akmal wanted to use Grant Flower's services for batting. I told him he must first go and play club cricket since he is not under PCB contract anymore."

He added, "I never stopped him from using the Academy; told him not to use services of our support staff until he earns the right."

PCB sends notice to Akmal

One of the most controversial cricketers of Pakistan, Umar Akmal has been given a show cause notice by the country's cricket governing body, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Akmal has reportedly breached the contract by speaking to media without board's permission.
