Ex-coach Anil Kumble was not strict: Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha opens up about his experiences

Indian team's current wicket-keeper, Wriddhiman Saha talked up about his stint with the national team and also shared his experience under former coach Anil Kumble. He said that he didn't consider Kumble very strict unlike other players.

Saha has been India's wicket-keeper since former captain MS Dhoni quit test cricket, and has had an impressive run in the past year.

Since 2016, Saha has played 21 innings in which he has scored 745 runs. He has hit three centuries and three half-centuries. His 199-run partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara against Australia at Ranchi helped India win the third test.

"As a coach, he had to be strict"

Saha said that he did not feel Kumble was a strict coach, unlike others. He added, "As a coach, he had to be strict in some way or the other. Some have felt he is strict, some have not. I have never felt that way under Anil bhai."

Saha also said that Kumble always wanted them to score huge runs in every match.

Saha's take on Shastri

"Ravi bhai always tells us to go for the kill"

Speaking about the new coach Ravi Shastri, Saha said that he has become more involved with the team than what he was during his stint as director of the team from 2014 to 2016.

Saha also compared Kumble's coaching style with Shastri and said that unlike Kumble, Shastri always wants them to go for a kill and hit the opponent out of the park.

Saha praises Kohli's captaincy

Wriddhiman Saha praised the Indian skipper Virat Kohli saying that he gets involved with the players, which helps youngsters. Saha said, "We dine together and go for outings together. He's always mingling with us, which I see a plus point in him."
