Ted Cruz denies connection with the Melania ad

Cruz responded on Twitter and said that the Melania ad was not from him and that if Trump went after his wife, then he was a "coward."

When Trump tweeted an unsavoury picture titled "A picture is worth a thousand words", Cruz responded by retweeting and saying: "Donald, real men don't attack women."

Further, he told Trump to "leave Heidi the hell alone".

In an ad sponsored by Make America Awesome (supporter of Ted Cruz) featured a picture of Donald Trump's wife.

The picture from a GQ photoshoot showed her lying "provocatively in his custom-fitted jet, naked and handcuffed to a briefcase."

The attack ad, targeted at Utah's conservative Mormon voters read: "Meet Melania Trump. Your Next First Lady. Or you could support Ted Cruz on Tuesday."

Melania Trump formerly Melania Knauss is Donald Trump's wife and a "Slovene-American jewellery and watch designer and former model".

Heidi Cruz (Ted Cruz's wife) is a senior executive for Goldman Sachs.

She has been helping in Ted Cruz's campaign and is one of the most accomplished fundraisers of the campaign.

Heidi said that Cruz was not 'related' to the Melania ad.

The advertisement of Melania from a GQ magazine photo shoot from 2000 angered Trump.

Trump believed Cruz was behind the ad and dragged Heidi into the spat.

He shot back in a tweet saying: " Lyin' Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad. Be careful, Lyin' Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!".

Donald calls Cruz the 'Lyin' Ted!'

Refusing to accept Cruz's defense that he wasn't behind the advertisement, Donald tweeted saying: "Lyin' Ted Cruz denied that he had anything to do with the G.Q. model photo post of Melania. That's why we call him Lyin' Ted!"

Previously too, Trump had dragged Jeb Bush's wife unwittingly into the Republican presidential campaign.

He had retweeted a post saying Bush must "like the Mexican illegals" (Columba Bush is a Mexican immigrant).

The post was deleted a day later, when, Trump said that he had not authorised the post; however, when Bush asked Trump to apologise, he had refused.
