On the back of suspicious packages containing bombs being sent to the Clintons, Obama, and others, a similar package has been sent to a restaurant owned by Hollywood legend Robert De Niro.
According to NBC, the package arrived at De Niro's Tribeca Girll restaurant early on Thursday morning.
Notably, like the other targets, De Niro is also a vocal Trump critic.
Several such packages have been received since Monday
A series of bomb alerts have been issued in the US since Monday, after suspicious packages containing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were sent to several Trump critics, including former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, former CIA Director John Brennan, philanthropist and investor George Soros, among others.
However, thankfully, none of the explosives went off.
Currently, the FBI is on the hunt for the sender(s).
De Niro is the eight Trump critic to be targeted
If the package sent to De Niro is linked to the others, the Hollywood actor would become the eighth person to be targeted by the mysterious sender(s).
Like the others, De Niro is a vocal critic of US President Trump, and and had earlier called the incumbent president a "national disaster".
Notably, the attempted bombings come just two weeks ahead of the US mid-term elections.
How US President Trump has responded to the attempted bombings
Hours after the reports of the attempted bombings surfaced, Trump appeared to pin the attempted bombings as a backlash against 'fake news' spread by media against himself and other conservatives.
However, later, after briefing the FBI, Department of Justice, and Department of Homeland Security, he assured that "no resources or expense" would be spared by the US government in tracking down the mysterious sender(s).
