New York police found ring and tried to search couple

Last week, a man decided to take the big step in his relationship and proposed to his girlfriend on a sidewalk in Times Square, New York.

And, she said 'Yes'.

However, in excitement, the man dropped the ring in the grating.

Fortunately, the New York Police Department (NYPD) found the ring and took it to Twitter to find the couple.

How amazing is that!

Couple found, had already bought a second ring

NYPD's efforts didn't go down in drain (unlike the ring).

They were able to contact the English couple, John Drennan and Daniella Anthony.

NYPD even cleaned the ring, which had bounced 8 feet into the grate.

The couple, who had already left for England, also bought a second ring but were extremely grateful.

Let's hope they've some money left for the wedding, now.

Interestingly, the couple, who was obviously embarrassed, had initially planned to keep the lost ring a secret but were relieved after NYPD found it.

The generous work of NYPD was truly remarkable. Especially, in a city where people and police are both so busy.

Who knows, the couple may invite them to their wedding.

Guess, being in the police's 'Wanted' list isn't always bad.

Reactions

'It was a grate proposal...He picked a grate place'

Meanwhile, NYPD's tweet went viral soon and netizens had a lot to say.

Many people lauded NYPD's efforts as one wrote, "Thank you for going the extra mile and helping this couple enjoy their engagement (even if he dropped the ring, dude!)"

But of course, some couldn't stop posting hilarious comments.
