What will happen if the Queen actually dies?
While the Queen is still alive and healthy, we can't help but wonder what would happen if Her Majesty actually dies.
First off, the death of Queen Elizabeth II will prompt a 12-day period of national mourning.
Union Flags will be flown half-mast throughout the country and books of condolence will be opened at embassies across the world.
Prince Charles is next in line to the throne
The Queen's body will be taken to Parliament, where she will lie in the Westminster Hall.
And, now the million-dollar question, who is next to the throne? It's her eldest son, Prince Charles, 70, who will succeed her.
Still, the accession council would need to be convened at St. James' Palace to formally declare Prince Charles the King.
Words of the National Anthem, face on currency will change
In the Palace, Prince Charles will be asked to swear loyalty to Parliament and Church of England in front of the council.
In turn, the Houses of Parliament will be recalled to swear loyalty to him.
The words to the National Anthem will be changed and new postage stamps and currency will be created to reflect Prince Charles' ascension to the throne.
London Stock Exchange will be closed for minimum a day
Other than the customary rituals, the Queen's death will affect England largely.
The London Stock Exchange will be closed for at least the day of the Queen's funeral.
The license fee-funded BBC will screen BBC One coverage of her death, suspending all programming.
If she dies at night, her death will not be announced until 8 AM.
