Ichthyosis is a group of genetic skin disorders identified by dry and scaling skin. The skin is either thickened or thin. 16,000 babies are born with a type of Ichthyosis every year. The disease which is usually identified at birth, can affect anybody.

American Airlines kicked off a mother and her baby from their flight last week because of a strange rash. Later, the rash turned out to be a rare genetic skin disorder called Ichthyosis. The woman, Jordan Flake, and her baby, Jackson, were traveling from Texas to South Carolina.

Jordan wrote in her Facebook post that she, along with her baby, was dicriminated by the plane crew. Despite her explaining the disease, the airline crew asked them to deboard the flight as they failed to present a letter from a doctor. She requested people to quiet being ignorant so that people like her don't have to explain them in future.

According to the Fox News, the Airline spokesperson said, "We sincerely apologize to Ms. Flake and her son for the experience they had." They have also claimed that their customer relation team has spoken to Jordan and have upgraded them along with a refund of the trip.
