"In 5 years, we'll connect 15 crore people with running-water"
Speaking at the UNGA, PM Modi reiterated his government's achievements, mentioning that India completed the world's biggest cleanliness program within 5 months and built as many as 11 crore toilets.
"In the coming 5 years, we will connect 15 crore people with running water supply and 1.15 lakh km of additional roads will be constructed," he said.
"By 2025, we intend to rid India of tuberculosis"
"In 2022, India will complete 75 years of independence and we will build 2 crore more houses for poor people by then. By 2025, we also intend to rid India of tuberculosis," PM Modi further said.
Additionally, he said, "I am delighted to inform you that we are running a big campaign in India to free the country of single use plastic."
PM Modi also highlighted India's fight against climate change
Highlighting India's commitment in fight against climate change, PM Modi said, "If you look at per-capita contribution to global warming, India's contribution is very less as compared to other countries."
"On one hand, we are working towards achieving the target of 450 Giga Watts of renewable energy, and on the other hand, we have also taken the initiative to create the International Solar Alliance."
"We have the authority to warn the world against terrorism"
While urging the International community to stand united against terrorism, PM Modi said, "We believe, that this (terrorism) is one of the biggest challenges, not for any single country, but for the entire world and humanity."
Further, cementing India's stand against terrorism, he summed, "India has contributed vehemently to UN peacekeeping forces. We have the authority and will to warn the world against terrorism."
