After being sentenced to two years in jail on Friday for running an illegal immigration ring, Daler Mehndi was soon granted bail.
Now, the singer has taken to Twitter to put forth his viewpoint on the matter.
He said, "This saddens me but I have complete faith in God that truth will come out soon."
This saddens me but I have complete faith in God that truth will come out soon. We will approach the session’s court for justice. I would like to thank all my loved ones all across the world for their support, love and good wishes.(2/2)#BelieveInDaler #DalerMehndi— Daler Mehndi (@dalermehndi) March 16, 2018
Sat Sri Akal! This case has been going on since last 14 years with my brother, who unfortunately passed away last year, as the main accused. Even after court found no evidence against me, with assumption that my brother was under my umbrella, court has put out this verdict. In the case that dates back to 2003, Mehndi and his brother Shamsher Singh were accused of illegally sending people abroad disguised as members of a dancing troupe and charging a hefty "passage fees" in return.
It was alleged that they took two troupes to the USA in 1998 and 1999 during the course of which 10 persons were "dropped off" illegally.
