Mark Andrew Charles (20), was pursuing a Masters degree in Designing and was preparing for his final presentation after having completed his final year exams.
Here are more details.
Charles, who hailed from the Naria Lanka locality in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, was found hanging from the ceiling fan on Tuesday afternoon as his friends broke down the door of his room.
"As his room doors were locked till 2 pm, his friends turned suspicious," Sridhar Reddy, Sangareddy deputy superintendent of police, said.
Reportedly, he entered his room around 11 pm on Monday.
Addressing friends in the note, Charles wrote, "I never thought I would end up letting all of you down. Do not miss me. I don't deserve it. I'm not worthy."
"Just know that I love you all back, just the way you did because that's what friends do right?"
Adding that he's not doing it because he's sad, Charles advised his friends against wasting their lives working as IT professionals, "Ankit, Rajjo, IT me kaam karte-karte apni life matt bhul jana. Live a little every day. Ek hi zindagi mili hain," it read.
According to TOI, Charles wrote to his parents, "Imagine the amount of money you've poured after me and here I end showing up with poor grades, zero portfolio, and no jobs. I don't have a job and wouldn't get one. No one hires losers!"
"Thank you for being the best parents. I'm sorry I turned out to be such a waste," he added.
A case of suicide has been registered under CrPC Section 174 and his body was shifted to the Government Hospital, Sangareddy, for an autopsy. His parents are due to arrive on Wednesday, TOI reported.
Meanwhile, IIT-H condoled the student's death. A statement by the institute read, "This is indeed an irreparable loss to the institute and the family. May his soul rest in peace."
Charles' suicide is the second such incident to have occurred at IIT-H this year. Back in February, Anirudhya Mummaneni, a student of third year, jumped from the seven-story hostel building to his death. Reportedly, Mummaneni dealt with depression.
